Job Description

The University of Missouri Athletics Department is seeking a Director of Special Events. This position will focus primarily on securing revenue generating events in the Department of Athletics through concerts, banquets, meetings, conventions, ceremonies, and other events.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading the identification and acquisition of non-gameday events such as conferences, banquets, corporate meetings, community gatherings and receptions.

Developing and implementing a comprehensive sales strategy to maximize the utilization of premium seating areas and other athletic venues during non-peak times focused on the local market and Mizzou alumni.

Cultivating and maintaining relationships with external organizations, corporate partners, and community leaders to generate event leads and secure bookings.

Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure events align with the department's goals and enhance the Mizzou Athletics brand.

Overseeing all aspects of event planning and execution, including budgeting, logistics, vendor coordination, and coordination with facilities staff.

Ensuring events are executed flawlessly, delivering a high-quality experience that reflects the standards of Mizzou Athletics.

Monitoring event outcomes, gathering feedback, and implementing improvements for future events.

Assisting in the management of premium seating areas during game days, including overseeing guest services, catering, and staff coordination.

Serving as a liaison between premium seating patrons and the Athletics Department, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

Supporting the development and implementation of programs to enhance the game day experience for premium seating guests.

Corresponding with administrators and faculty members to ensure positive relationships are made between athletics and campus.

Abiding by all University, SEC, and NCA rules and regulations in an ethical and confidential manner.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights and Weekends, as required by events

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Display a track record of securing and executing high-profile events.

Strong understanding of premium seating operations and donor relations.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,000 - $60,000/annual

Grade: GGS-9E
