Leidos' Defense Systems Land Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer Risk Manager to join a matrixed organization of systems engineers, model-based systems engineers, and specialty systems engineers. The Systems Engineer will support risk management, develop various SE documents, and support requirements development and traceability across related Hypersonics manufacturing contracts. The selected candidate will interface with the government customer, program management, finance, EVM, subcontractors, and program engineers to support a program's risk management and systems engineering needs throughout its life cycle. The selected candidate may present the systems engineering artifacts they have developed to the customer in formal reviews and may serve as a customer liaison in many of their programs.

The Systems Engineer will work in a matrixed organization, which supports multiple programs at once in a variety of engineering fields with all different team environments. When the efforts end, the Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to support a different program in the matrixed engineering portfolio. A candidate with experience in other systems engineering areas such as Lead Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering, and Reliability Analysis will be treated preferentially. However, this position minimally requires a strong background in traditional Systems Engineering and Risk Management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 5+ years of experience or an MS with 3+ years.

  • Experience in performing risk management for Defense applications on large-scale programs at various points in the systems development lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated experience effectively executing Systems Engineering tasks.

  • Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

  • Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

  • Possess a secret clearance or eligible to obtain and maintain secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active secret clearance

  • Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master of Science in System Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, and/or have at least 2-4 years of direct systems engineering experience.

  • Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP)
