Description

The Supervisor, Bank Operations acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Operations Department's payment processing systems, ensuring systems are working effectively and efficiently, as well as training and providing technical support to internal and external users. As a representative of Operations that is in a client-facing role, the Supervisor, Bank Operations collaborates with Relationship and Portfolio Managers, Treasury Sales & Support Representatives, and others to achieve customer service excellence.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Performs all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Cass policies and procedures; including but not limited to, unit leadership, wage and timekeeping administration, training, performance feedback, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Also responsible for interviewing, hiring, and transferring/ promoting employees, in consultation with manager, as needed.
  • Monitors transaction flow and various bank operations processes to ensure policies and procedures are followed at all times. Analyzes workflow and implements procedural changes to boost efficiency, improve revenues and reduce operating costs.
  • Serves as the SME for the Operations department systems for both internal staff and clients, providing training and customer support for systems which include: proof of deposits, remote capture, mobile deposit, positive pay, lockbox and other check processing systems and applications.
  • Effectively manages the card production system to ensure card processing functions are accurately performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and adhere to regulations and established internal security requirements. Also, assists with planning, evaluation and administration of card functions and services as well as maintaining applicable reporting systems.
  • Provides support for treasury management products and services. Creates and tests files for various systems. Creates and implements payment solutions for IFS and other CIS divisions. Evaluates products for efficiency and competitiveness.
  • In conjunction with Corporate IT, continually evaluates systems to ensure optimal efficiency and customer communications are not interrupted. Tests systems annually in accordance with the company's Business Continuality Plan and works with Internal Audit and the Bank's compliance officer to ensure systems meet regulatory standards for security and risk.
  • Evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of payment systems to recommend upgrades and replacements. Completes cost/benefit analysis of proposed enhancements and submits recommendations to senior management.
  • Backs up critical and non-critical positions in payment operations through ongoing cross-training and education.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Well-organized and detail-oriented in order to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent interpersonal and persuasiveness skills, oral and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability managing the workflow in a systems solution environment.

  • Ability to effectively coach and develop employees in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of bank operation functions, including item processing and electronic banking.
  • Knowledge of deposit, loan, and accounting systems.
  • Strong technical skills to analyze and adapt quickly to new banking technology.
  • Above average knowledge of banking regulations as they relate to payments, digital banking, and cyber-security required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with an intermediate level of experience in Excel and Word.


MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:



  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or accounting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of banking experience with experience in item processing, electronic banking and treasury management, preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
