Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Director of Aviation to join our Aviation Service Team in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Our ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in Airport/Aviation Design, possess a strong background in project management, leadership, and business development, and be able to build long-term relationships with clients. Candidates must be willing to perform a variety of tasks supporting various projects and lead our aviation efforts in Texas.

We work on a variety of projects, including but not limited to airport planning, airfield layout and design, safety plans, airfield civil design and construction projects, facilities design and infrastructure, and environmental studies. In this role, you will build upon Westwood's Aviation group with a diversified range of projects that require preparing a variety of civil engineering and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) planning reports, studies, and plans for large complex projects, and building solutions for our clients' success.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Division Service Leads, Regional Service Leaders, and local market leaders to develop business strategies, advance service initiatives, and drive Westwood's market share.

Job Duties:

  • Partner with leadership to develop and enact a comprehensive strategic plan, focusing on short- and long-term growth.
  • Lead service-specific proposal efforts, providing technical expertise and driving innovation in our project approaches.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, leveraging this insight to enhance our service offerings and project delivery methods.
  • Implement and uphold high standards for our work products, from design standards to project reports, ensuring quality and consistency across the board.
  • Grow, mentor, and train staff.
  • Lead business development activities for the Aviation practice in Texas.
  • Manage the design and delivery of multidisciplinary projects in a profitable manner.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of various projects.
  • Supervise the work of engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.
  • Develop project work plans and budget projections, and effectively deploy resources.
  • Review, interpret and act on business metrics, including utilization, backlog, work in process and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare, maintain and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies.
  • Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies.
  • Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners.


Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of aviation planning, programming, design and construction is a plus.
  • Preferred candidate will have working experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and an understanding of Bureau of Aeronautics policies and procedures.
  • Deep understanding of the consulting business.
  • Proven track record in operations, business development, and technical project management within the aviation/airport sectors.
  • Ability to travel as needed to project sites and offices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staff.
  • Ability to coach and motivate others.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Products and other related engineering and project management software.


Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas (or capable of obtaining within 6 months).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience.
