OVERVIEW The function of the Bulk Team Manager is to provide necessary technical support and leadership to direct, facilitate, and coordinate the performance, development, and improvement of the overall operation. This position has the responsibility of establishing and maintaining a capable, continuously improving, high-quality workforce with focus on improving safety, plant equipment reliability, quality, and the process, at the lowest sustainable cost. DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and leads a team of supervisors to safely deliver quality and quantity of production to meet demand.
- Partners with support functions (i.e. Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, etc.) to meet production demands
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices
- Compiles, analyzes, stores, and retrieves production data
- Controls the use of energy (fuel and steam), water, air, and electric power in an ongoing effort to reduce refining
- Handles employee and labor relations problems on shift within limits of the contract, delegated authority and established guidelines.
- Identifies and coordinates non-routine maintenance activities.
- Drives Continuous Improvement initiatives within the department
- The successful candidate must be able to achieve results through subordinates in an organized labor environment.
WORK EXPERIENCES
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a chemical processing, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing plant in process/production operations, supervision, or equivalent military experience
- Experience designing and driving process improvement in a food (or similar) manufacturing environment preferred
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
- Continuous Improvement or quality certification(s) strongly preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Manages a team of on shift supervisors and oversees department within a unionized facility
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems
