Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead sustaining engineering and continuous improvement efforts in machining, fabrication, tooling, programming, and processing of commercial and military aircraft components. This role manages a team of Manufacturing Engineers, Programmers, and Tool Makers, while providing technical support to Sourcing, Sales, and Program Management. The successful candidate will leverage technical expertise and leadership experience to drive operational excellence and contribute to long-term business strategy.

Pay Range: $130,000.00 to $180,000.00



Position Requirements
  • Define and control manufacturing planning, programming, tooling, and special process requirements, including equipment allocations throughout production.
  • Review and validate design specifications and shop floor applications for new products, tools, and equipment. Research and implement new technologies.
  • Partner with design engineering teams and customers on the development of aircraft assemblies and components.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve first-pass yield, and shorten cycle times to support site cost-reduction goals.
  • Manage manufacturing engineering, programming, tool fabrication, and customer tool management systems. Establish policies, procedures, assignments, and schedules, and support the creation of standard work instructions.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of shop floor operations, sourcing, materials, and production management, including new work bids and supplier quality issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years supervisory/management experience in manufacturing engineering; 15 years preferred.
  • Direct hands-on experience with machining, chip cutting, CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, assembly, and measuring equipment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related tools to develop data reports, presentations, project timelines, and schedules.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective teams.
  • Demonstrated success in driving process and manufacturing improvements.
  • Aerospace machine shop experience strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand 6-8 hours per day and perform highly precise manual work.
  • Regular ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs. and regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements include close and color vision.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to high-speed machinery and mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to humid conditions, outdoor weather, machine oils, solvents, metal shavings, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration.
  • Work environment noise levels are typically loud.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available).
  • Must meet Department of Defense security standards, including the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance if required.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
