Description
Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) to provide installation, maintenance, and sustainment support for critical Long-Range Maritime Surveillance Systems used by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. This role requires local and remote travel to Coast Guard and Naval sites. The FSE will be the primary technical representative on-site, responsible for the operational readiness of specialized radar and camera systems, with a specific focus on platforms manufactured by FLIR Systems and Clear Align, essential for maritime domain awareness (MDA).
System Installation and Deployment
- Lead Installation: Direct and execute the physical installation and configuration of Long-Range Radar and Coast Guard Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) Camera surveillance systems at designated operational sites.
- EO/IR Configuration: Perform initial setup, alignment, calibration, and bore-sight procedures for Clear Align and FLIR multi-sensor camera systems.
- System Integration: Integrate proprietary sensor systems with local network infrastructure and command-and-control (C2) interfaces, ensuring seamless data flow back to the operations center.
- Acceptance Testing: Perform rigorous site acceptance testing (SAT) and functional checks to verify system performance meets technical specifications and documented requirements.
Maintenance and Sustainment
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and rapidly diagnose and repair complex system failures (corrective maintenance).
- Specialized Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues down to the component level, including RF signal chains, data links, power supplies, environmental control units, and the precise mechanical and gimbal assemblies unique to FLIR and Clear Align products.
- System Upgrades: Perform hardware and software upgrades, patches, and modifications to deployed systems, adhering to strict configuration management (CM) protocols.
- Remote Support: Provide Tier 3 remote technical support to site operators, resolving system outages and performing remote diagnostics and log analysis when not deployed.
- Inventory Management: Manage, track, and secure spare parts, specialized tools, and test equipment (TMDE) inventory for assigned systems and deployment sites.
Training and Documentation
- Operator Training: Develop and deliver formal and informal training to U.S. Navy and Coast Guard personnel on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and scheduled maintenance procedures, specifically covering FLIR and Clear Align operator interfaces.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive, accurate records of all maintenance actions, repairs, system configurations, and logbook entries in the designated maintenance management system.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all installation and maintenance activities adhere to strict industry, client, and local safety standards, especially when working at heights (towers, mast installations).
Requirements
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. (Extensive field experience may substitute for a degree.)
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the installation and repair of complex electronic systems, with a minimum of 2 years supporting DoD or large-scale federal surveillance systems (e.g., radar, C4ISR, sensor platforms).
- Clearance: Must possess or be immediately eligible to receive an Active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert-level knowledge of RF theory, radar principles, and microwave technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting network communications (TCP/IP, serial links) and data acquisition/storage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers).
- Travel Requirement: Must be willing and able to travel frequently (up to 50%).
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work safely at heights and in various environmental conditions (extreme heat/cold).
Preferred Requirements:
- Specialized EO/IR Experience (Highly Preferred): Direct, hands-on experience maintaining, integrating, and troubleshooting multi-sensor platforms from FLIR Systems and/or Clear Align.
- DoD/Navy Systems: Familiarity with the RMF process as it relates to system security and continuous monitoring.
- Certifications: Technical certification in relevant areas (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Fiber Optics Technician, or vendor-specific certifications).
