What you'll do as an Education Associate
- Support preparation and facilitation of meetings with AEM, subcontractors, and clients including the U.S. Department of Education, state and local educational agencies, non-profits, foundations and education associations
- Support facilitation of technical assistance/professional development on complex topics in politically sensitive environments
- Understand the national landscape for relevant education topics such as teacher and leader development, educational access, ESSA, and data management and use
- Provide remote and/or on-site support to education stakeholders and grantees
- Support moderation of virtual discussions, webinars, conference calls, and meetings to capture notes and track action items
- Support product development including publications, deliverables, and plans
- Collect, track, and display data to monitor support activities that will be used to drive improvements
- Contribute to identification of gaps in approaches to support and creation of innovative solutions for clients and grantee stakeholders
- Collaboratively work with a team, including subcontractors
- Support the team with knowledge management and monthly reporting
- Support opportunities for expanding AEM's support and influence in the field of education at the federal and local levels
- Apply education-related knowledge across a range of topics, such as standards and instruction, teacher and leader development, personalized learning, educator credentialing, education technology and AI, evidence-based practices, data management and use, and ESSA
Required Qualifications (What You'll Bring to the Role)
- Bachelor's degree required, Masters a plus
- Minimum of three (3) years' in an education-related role at a local educational agency, state, non-profit, federal or contractor organization
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills including presentations before small, medium, and/or large groups
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills with a practiced ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a hybrid team located across the U.S.
- Must be willing and able to travel to the Washington, DC metro area and other areas of the United States at least twice per year
- Ability to obtain a security clearance via a Public Trust background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Strong preference for experience in a federal or state contractor role supporting education, policy, and human services
- Experience and relationships with the U.S. Department of Education, state education agencies, and education non-profits
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local contracting regulations and processes
- Experience with technical assistance, educational data analysis, and grants management is preferred
