PRODUCTION EDITOR

What you'll do.

As the Production Editor for Neurology Journals, you'll be the driving force behind transforming accepted manuscripts into polished, high-impact publications-both online and in print. In this important role, you'll collaborate closely with journal editors to bring their editorial vision to life across a collection of respected titles. You'll coordinate with internal teams to weave in rich, content-led features that enhance the reader experience, while also liaising with the publisher to ensure each issue is accurate, on-brand, and delivered on time. Your work helps maintain the journals' premier reputation in the medical publishing world-ensuring every issue reflects the excellence our audience expects.

What we look for.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Humanities, Science, or related area of study is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience successfully leading project teams in fast-paced scholarly publication production environment is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience training or supervising staff members in journal production management is required; AAN employees may substitute requirement with 2 years leading programs, project teams, and/or team lead experience
  • Experience setting production schedules for a scholarly publication is required.
  • Experience in working across teams to facilitate production of journal features such as journal articles, enhanced features, and multi-media news releases is required.
  • Experience working with vendors in the scholarly publication industry is required.
  • Experience editing copy for a scholarly journal is required.

Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with legislative process, as well as a general understanding of rules and regulations is required
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization is required
  • Demonstrated customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to internal and external customers in person, on the phone and through written and electronic correspondence is required
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals is required
  • Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual and act professionally is required
  • Ability to represent association and present to a variety of external audiences and stakeholders is required
  • Knowledge of Quorum or similar government relations software is preferred
  • Strong presentation/public speaking skills are preferred

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required - approximately 5%.

Location: Minneapolis, MN or home based and is identified as primarily remote (ability to work remotely but required to work in the office as needed or requested).

Schedule: Occasional evenings and weekends required.
