The Position

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

This role is not remote. It requires 3 days onsite in Indianapolis, IN.

Developing software is great, but developing software with a purpose is even better! As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will work on a product that helps people with the most precious thing they have - their health.

The Opportunity

The Platform team within Roche Information Solutions (RIS) is responsible for foundational services and solutions that support our healthcare portfolio across a range of applications and disease areas.

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the team, applying extensive knowledge of design principles and practices to the implementation of complex, enterprise-scale digital applications. Your responsibilities will include architecture, design, and implementation of foundational platform services and software solutions across a broad portfolio of therapeutic areas.In hands-on collaboration with teams of developers, designers, product owners, and QA experts, you will experience best-in-class software development practices daily and contribute to software that meets the highest expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop clean, stable, testable, scalable, and performant frontend and backend code, serving our healthcare applications.

  • Build solid technical design, clean code, and future-proof architecture.

  • Guide and share your knowledge with other developers.

  • Build, maintain, and extend development processes and tools to ensure ongoing improvements to team productivity and product scalability.

  • Work in and support an interdisciplinary team, together with frontend engineers, backend engineers, QAs, designers, and product owners.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant discipline and at least 5 years of experience working as a software engineer.

  • Have successfully built, deployed, and supported an enterprise-scale web application in AWS

  • Direct software development expertise in Java, Python and JavaScript with a modern framework (react, redux).

  • Ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problems.

  • Experience in API Design, Data Modeling, Capacity planning.

  • Engineering best practices such as TDD and CI/CD.

  • Experience working autonomously or in teams on multiple product features without guidance.

  • Experience proposing technical solutions for new or revised features based on understanding of product and business domain.

  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring junior developers.

  • Able to proactively communicate within your team, with other functions, and with business stakeholders.

  • Ability to facilitate decision making.

  • Experience collaborating with product managers, UX design leaders, and engineers in an agile development environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Identity and Access Management services.

  • Experience developing medical device software.

  • Understanding of medical, security, and privacy regulations.

  • Knowledge of health/biotech/diagnostics industries.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is between $123,900 and $230,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
