Location:Rocklin, California Position Summary Manage large environmental remediation, heavy civil and infrastructure, or specialty geotechnical projects and programs; maintain and enhance Forgen business relationships. Support business development with new clients. Represent Company management in negotiations with employee organizations. Assist the estimating and proposal development team. Manage each project assigned according to Forgen's corporate philosophy of safe, quality production while securing the most favorable economic outcome for Forgen. The Project Director will internalize and enforce Company policy and procedures. Position may require occasional travel. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, Manage and be Accountable (LMA) for their direct reports.
- Perform the roles and responsibilities for Project Director as listed on the Accountability Chart.
- Responsible for driving a safety culture which promotes Incident and Injury Free Performance.
- Provide primary client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete the project.
- Manage the estimate for selected project with detailed review and evaluation of all contract documents. Prepare proposals, technical writing, drawings, schedules, presentations, and interviews as needed during a proposal process.
- Work closely with site management employees during total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. Manage interaction with all client representatives, engineers, stakeholders, public relations, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Work closely with site management employees to plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction to administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).
- Supervise site management employees and subcontractors.
- Provide technical assistance, i.e. interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc. as required. Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.
- Assume full responsibility for all aspects of project success and failure to include: productivity of employees, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
- Requires managing fuels, infrastructure, and remediation projects.
- Perform additional assignments as directed.
Basic Qualifications
- BS, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in a construction environment which demands outstanding safety performance.
- Skilled in leading, mentoring, and building high-performing teams; strong ethics and integrity.
- Proficient with Microsoft Project/Primavera P6; experienced in reading project plans/specs and understanding equipment capabilities.
- Committed to maintaining a safe work environment and enforcing safety policies.
- Excellent verbal/written communication; strong ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Performs well under pressure; exercises sound judgment and creative problem-solving.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong time management and a drive for excellence.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred specialized experience in one or more of the following sectors:
- Environmental remediation in the oil and gas industry (e.g. refineries, utilities, etc.)
- Coal Combustion Residual (CCR)
- Heavy Civil and/or Infrastructure in Federal and State Programs for levee and dam rehabilitation, water resources, wetland and habitat restoration including, but not limited to management of Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts (e.g JOC, SATOC, MACC, MATOC, etc.).
- Specialty Geotechnical Construction including slurry cutoff wall or seepage barriers, in-situ soil solidification/ stabilization (ISS) utilizing vertical augers, conventional excavators or other means and methods.
- The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training.
- 8-Hour OSHA Refresher.
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment This office-based role requires frequent computer use and effective communication, with occasional travel to project sites as needed. Site visits may involve extended periods of standing or walking and required PPE, with potential exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, dust, fumes, uneven terrain, and extreme weather.
