From your PASSION to ours

Midwest Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Processing Supervisor based in Reed City, MI.

This leader is responsible for mentoring the processing crew leader and operator group in all areas of human and food safety. This person will also be responsible for implementing overuse reduction initiatives and driving system performance in coordination with the Dairy Strategist and Platform Lead. The Processing Supervisor will also be a backup to the Dairy Strategist in the event of an outage and will be well versed in all aspects of dairy and base planning/scheduling. This person will be involved in project work and bulk loss reduction initiatives as assigned by the Platform Lead. The Processing Supervisor will be responsible for communicating issues involving base storage, production planning discrepancies, staffing, downtime scheduling concerns, and training; they will also work cross departmentally to mitigate quality and maintenance concerns.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Works with Platform Lead to assess human and food safety risks and develop/implement mitigation plans.
  • Learns all aspects of dairy ingredient and base planning and backfills for the Dairy Strategist during outages. Communicate production planning discrepancies with the packaging and logistics teams.
  • Develops/implements bulk loss reduction and overuse reduction plans.
  • Develops/implements system performance improvement plans.
  • Makes recommendations and assists in updating training materials, resources, and methods including JTA's, HOD's, OPL's, job descriptions, etc.
  • Makes sure all positions on the line are properly allocated, including trainees. Works with training department to develop/implement a training plan successfully.
  • Participates in project work as assigned by the Platform Lead.
  • Mentors and coach's operators in alignment with department goals and facilitate the corrective action process if/when necessary.
  • Help facilitate daily meetings and develop content for department action team meetings. Spearhead initiatives designed to bolster engagement among the operator group.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-years' experience managing or supervising production or maintenance employees in a manufacturing setting.
  • Competence in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstratable technical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstratable logistical/planning skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible with working hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of dairy processing, planning, and/or manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • B.S. or A.A. in engineering, food science, biology, or some other related discipline.
