Job Purpose:



The Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision, training, and performance management of hourly production employees. The position manages and leads associates assigned to them in accordance with accepted management best practices, while complying with the provisions of our collective

bargaining agreement.



Primary Responsibilities:




  1. Manages and maintains safe operating practices and conditions within assigned work areas. Leads by personally setting the example.
  2. Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff, and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
  3. Manages and establishes corrective actions of hourly associates to meet established ISO standards, as well as acceptable product quality standards.
  4. Establishes and maintains production areas assigned in accordance with 5S+1 principles.
  5. Actively participates in the introduction of new products and processes, as required in a dynamic manufacturing organization.
  6. Works collaboratively with other supervisors, Engineering, Quality Control, P&IC, and other disciplines to ensure customer needs are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  7. Maintains spending controls on materials, labor, and expenses in accordance with available product documentation.
  8. Manages vacation time, as well as all time and attendance activity for assigned personnel.
  9. May be responsible to provide supervisory leadership at any time, on any production shift, as required.
  10. Ensures all current and new employees are trained in the Code of









Business Ethics, in its meaning and application. Periodically reviews the Code with employees and ensures they attend the annual ethics refresher program. Maintains a workplace environment that encourages frank and open communication, free from fear of reprisal, concerning compliance with the Code.

Qualifications
Requirements:




Knowledge:



High school diploma or GED

Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role in an industrial manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of OSHA regulation with the ability to support and maintain ISO certified quality systems and related functional elements.

Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques



Skills:



Mathematical: Intermediate Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Written & Verbal Communication: Intermediate Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

Problem Solving: Intermediate - Problems are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. Problems are solved using knowledge and skills, general precedent, and practices.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft PowerPoint: Basic - This level of skills is required to create a simple presentation in PowerPoint, run it and print it.

Microsoft Word: Basic - This level of skills is sufficient to perform daily word processing tasks, such as, producing routine letters, memorandums, and information reports. A person with this level of skills is able to use basic formatting, editing, printing functions, and understands the document page setup. Microsoft Excel: Basic - This level of skills is required to perform tasks and work with data in worksheets. A person with this level of skills is able to enter and correct data, modify a workbook, format a worksheet, and use printing functions. Other Computer Skills:

Oracle - Must be able to utilize Bills of Material, Work Order Information, as well as other engineering specifications.

Planning/Organizing: Intermediate - Allocates appropriate amounts of time for

completing own and others' work.



Abilities



Decision Making: Intermediate - Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department.

Reasoning Ability: High - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a

variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization







exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Project Management: Basic - This level is capable of less complex projects. Ability to work effectively & cooperatively in a team environment.

Regular attendance is required.





Working Environment:



Independence of action - Results are defined. Sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results with some guidelines. Supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.

Typical office and plant environment



Physical Requirements:



Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Overnight travel as required
