Job Description
The position is funded by the Youth Services Contract (Susquehanna Workforce Network) and supports the College's Workforce Development dually-enrolled students by serving as a central point of contact for students and offering intensive student support to recruit and enhance retention and completion. The Career Navigator provides on-going personal connections with dually-enrolled students and develops meaningful professional relationships with HCC's Workforce Development and Community Education ( WCE) division and SWN designated personnel.

Duties include:

  • Collaborating with the HIRE program Manager, HCC staff, and designated WIOA/SWN personnel to ensure student success.
  • Providing oversight of instructional materials, supplies and equipment to support model and its classes.
  • Meeting with HIRE Program students to assess learning outcomes and provide best practices in learning strategies.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality student and parent programming/event information.
  • Serving all HIRE Program enrolled students at multiple locations.
  • Planning and hosting activities to facilitate student job readiness, including, but not limited to, career fairs, networking events, industry panel discussions, industry guest speakers, resume writing clinics, and mock interviews.
  • Assisting students in preparing for industry certifications and licensure.
  • Mentoring students on soft skills essential for employment.
  • Conducting outreach efforts and performing community awareness activities.
  • Working with HCC's Coordinator for Career Services to enhance noncredit student participation in Career Services activities.
  • Performing limited case management with updates and assisting program manager as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.


This position is grant-funded and will conclude June 30, 2025. The primary work location for this position is off-campus at 4690 Millennium Drive in Belcamp, Maryland.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
Associate degree required OR 3-5 years of K-12 experience working closely with students may be considered.
Required Experience

  • Community outreach experience.
  • Experience using MS Office Excel and Teams

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient communication skills; strong customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience navigating students through workforce and postsecondary education systems
  • Experience working with youth ages 18-24 in education, family and community engagement outreach, along with recreational and vocational outreach experiences
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with current social media, networking, and trends closely related to youth ages 18-24
  • Experience navigating students through workforce and post-secondary education systems
  • Ability to foster and build positive relationships with students and community
  • Experience with restorative practice approaches to support youth
