Our License Management Services Group plays a critical role in protecting the value of OpenText's intellectual property while ensuring strong, transparent, and trusted relationships with our customers. This team bridges the worlds of Sales, Legal, and Technology - providing expertise that ensures customers are utilizing OpenText software within their licensed entitlements while enabling positive business outcomes.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Software License Manager ("Compliance Manager"), you will be the resident expert in OpenText software licensing, ensuring customers' usage aligns with their entitlements. In cases of non-compliance, you will lead thoughtful negotiations and deliver creative contractual solutions that protect both OpenText and the customer relationship.

You will work across functional areas, engaging directly with customers at all levels-from procurement teams to C-level executives-while collaborating internally with legal, product, support, and sales teams. Your expertise and leadership will help safeguard OpenText's IP, strengthen customer trust, and support continued business growth.

Travel of up to 10% is expected for team building and professional development.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

  • Conducting in-depth entitlement and support reviews by analyzing contracts, financials, and documentation to determine customer rights and usage.
  • Leading direct conversations with customers across procurement, technical, legal, and executive teams to assess compliance and negotiate resolutions when required.
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration with legal, support, engineering, product management, sales, marketing, pricing, and operations.
  • Developing and maintaining compliance tools, questionnaires, and data collection methods; reviewing effectiveness and driving improvements.
  • Negotiating and preparing license contracts to resolve compliance findings and strengthen OpenText's customer relationships.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, technical, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience in the software industry with exposure to both technical and contractual elements.
  • Strong skills in contract interpretation, negotiation, organization, and technical analysis.
  • Proven customer-facing experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex engagements simultaneously with precision and professionalism.
  • Solid understanding of software licensing, compliance, and controls, with the ability to interpret complex license agreements.
  • Confidence in working with stakeholders at all levels-from individual contributors to C-level executives.
  • Independent judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence and lead in challenging situations.
  • Professional persistence, patience, and resilience under pressure, especially in adversarial conversations.
  • Bonus points for prior software compliance auditing or software asset management experience, particularly with Micro Focus, EMC/Documentum, or SAP product suites, or with OEM/Partner/Reseller contracts.

Compensation: At OpenText, we offer a thoughtfully designed benefits package that supports your physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. As you move through the hiring process, we're happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.

Salary Range: $152,530- $250,585. Depending on the candidate's education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.
