We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Machinist I on nights to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. Night shift hours are 3:15pm to 12:45am Monday through Friday, as business needs currently dictate one hour of mandatory daily overtime.

Summary:


The Machinist I position involves the operation of various machine tools to produce precision parts and components.



Responsibilities:



  • Under close supervision, operates and adjusts alternately more than one type of computer numerically controlled machine tools such as grinders, honers, millers, drill presses, lathes, etc. on routine and repetitive operations
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area.
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.



Requirement/Qualifications:



  • Education:

    • High school education or equivalent.
    • Machining Certification from an accredited school or program desired


  • Experience:

    • 0 - 1 year of manufacturing experience (machining experience preferred)


  • Skills

    • Strong mechanical aptitude with exposure to machining process and shop mathematics.
    • Introductory understanding of blueprint and GD&T reading.
    • Ability to trouble shoot issues and solid problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
    • Strong communication, teamwork and collaboration skills .
    • Dependable; come to work on time and stay for the shift to complete work as assigned.





Physical Requirements:



  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Continual standing
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and grasping items/tools.
  • Frequent mental and visual attention
  • Constant standing and frequent walking
  • Occasional sitting
