Job Description

General Summary:

We are seeking a talented and versatile Graphic Designer to join our Corporate Communications team. This role is crucial in visually conveying Vertex's brand identity across both internal and external channels, ensuring consistent, on-brand designs that reflect the innovation and purpose behind our work. The ideal candidate will possess strong design instincts, the ability to deliver designs in a bustling environment, experience with a wide range of design applications, and the confidence to take projects from concept to deliverable. A compatible candidate should be comfortable sharing ideas, engaging in group discussions, thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and strong communicator to the team and stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare a variety of print and digital materials, including fact sheets, brochures, posters, social media, and presentation decks - supporting external web and social channels as well as internal communications.
  • Contribute to design meetings and brainstorming sessions; share work, provide input on projects, share ideas and opinions, be willing to speak up and share creative and strategic perspectives.
  • Support the Vertex corporate brand through understanding our key messaging and visuals, ensuring all designs maintain visual consistency with Vertex's overall corporate identity and style guide.
  • Contribute to the visual direction and design of internal engagement events such as annual awards dinners, family day celebrations, announcements and product approvals, and key milestone events.
  • Translate complex scientific or business concepts into clear, visually engaging graphics and layouts for corporate presentations.
  • Maintain and update our graphic brand asset libraries on Brand Central, Vertex's brand hub and digital asset management (DAM) platform; this includes photography, illustrations, logos, presentations, fonts and icons.
  • Work independently to manage projects, from concept to deliverable, and with cross-functional stakeholders to gather feedback, iterate on designs, and ensure satisfactory final outputs.
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications' business partners - internal communications, HR, Pipeline comms and business leads to align design work with corporate messaging goals.
  • Work within a core set of software requirements but remain flexible and interested in learning new tools and skills to solve design needs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication, time management, file organization and project coordination skills.
  • Broad design experience showcasing versatility, creativity, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Manage projects and timelines within the deadlines and project parameters.
  • Understanding of digital and social media
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
  • Ability to multitask and work to tight time frames
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with video editing and animation tools is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.

Pay Range:

$92,800 - $139,200
