Position Summary

The Senior Workday HRIS Specialist located onsite in Southfield MI serves as a strategic systems partner and technical expert across multiple Workday HCM modules. This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Workday functionality to support global HR operations, compliance, and employee experience. As a senior member of the HRIS team, you will lead complex projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive system excellence.

Key Responsibilities

System Configuration & Optimization

  • Lead configuration and enhancement of Workday modules including Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, and Core HCM.

  • Design and implement scalable business processes and workflows.

  • Manage system releases, regression testing, and change documentation.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Build advanced reports, dashboards, and calculated fields to support strategic decision-making.

  • Ensure data integrity through audits, reconciliations, and governance protocols.

  • Partner with People Analytics teams to deliver insights across the employee lifecycle.

Integration Development

  • Design, build, test, and deploy integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday Web Services

  • Manage inbound and outbound data flows between Workday and external systems (e.g., payroll, benefits, finance)

  • Ensure integrations align with business processes and data governance standards

EIB Work

  • Create EIBs for mass data uploads and extracts (e.g., employee data, compensation updates)

  • Configure templates and mappings for efficient data transformation

  • Monitor EIB performance and troubleshoot errors

Project Leadership

  • Lead Workday-related projects including new module implementations, integrations, and process redesigns.

  • Serve as liaison between HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors.

  • Conduct impact analysis and manage stakeholder communications.

Training & Support

  • Troubleshoot system and integration issues with a sense of urgency and provide effective solutions.

  • Provide Tier 2 support for complex system issues and escalations.

  • Manage and prioritize incoming requests, ensuring timely resolution of issues and support for routine reporting and enhancements.

  • Mentor junior HRIS team members and support knowledge sharing.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for Workday configurations, integrations and business processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on Workday experience.

  • Deep expertise in multiple modules: Core HCM, Payroll, Absence, Benefits, Time Tracking.

  • Strong understanding of global HR operations, compliance, and data governance.

  • Proficiency in Workday reporting tools, EIBs, integrations, and business process frameworks.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Workday Pro certification in one or more modules.

  • Experience with Workday Studio, People Analytics, or third-party integrations.

  • Familiarity with SOX, GDPR, and other global compliance standards.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive system strategy.

  • Experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, and integrations.

The base pay hiring rate expected for this position is: $96,000-$128,000

This position is eligible to participate in an incentive plan.Metrics and level of participation are determined annually.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
