Core Responsibilities
- Provides constructive input into policy making, which relates to field employees.
- Performs professional and thorough annual evaluations and follow-up on the recommendations for employees reporting to this position.
- Delivers a quality project safely, on time, within budget and with focus on establishing positive relationships.
- Manages subcontractors and vendors in a coordinated manner while developing long lasting relationships for the Company.
- Provides input and valuable review of subcontractor scope to assist the PM.
- Creates and maintains relationships with unions, to foster harmony on the project site.
- Maintains care and custody of the project site to assure safety is of the utmost priority.
- Ensures that Quality Control requirements are met and followed in accordance with the Contract Documents.
- Provides assistance with pre-job planning, strategizing and conceptual scheduling.
- Provides training and mentorship to field personnel.
- Conducts a meaningful evaluation and focuses on following up on training objectives for field employees.
- Focuses on creating and maintaining respect from Subcontractors, Owners, Design team and subordinates.
- Ensures timely submission of Incident and Accident Reports.
- Produces tight, realistic construction schedules.
- Institutes a "zero punch list" philosophy, to minimize punch list and call backs on projects.
- Ability to finish projects ahead of schedule.
- Ensures that no subcontractor is allowed to work on-site without an approved Insurance certificate, signed Subcontract or a Letter of Intent.
- Organizes, manages and records meetings.
- Produces daily reports and Weekly Status Reports.
- Takes digital progress photographs.
- Assists the project team in developing monthly cost reports.
- Executes the Company Safety Program.
- Establishes good working relationships with government agencies.
- Mentors subordinates.
- Promotes a team atmosphere.
Qualifications
- BS or BA in engineering or related discipline. At least ten (10) years and a proven track record of Construction and/or Management experience in the field may be substituted for degree.
- Extensive knowledge of the Owner contract, drawings and specifications, subcontract agreements, insurance risks and focuses on mitigating risk for the Company.
- Extensive knowledge of the Scheduling process and is able to provide a project plan for use in the development of the overall project schedule.
- Thorough knowledge of self-performance activities including site work, concrete, underground utilities particular to gas and electric transmission, substations and campus infrastructure. Understanding of the manpower requirements related to these activities.
- Ability to provide professional representation at a project interview and is proficient at public speaking.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA 1926 and related Corporate Safety Program.
- Thorough knowledge of Safety Risk Management process, including understanding of EMR, IR, SR, FR and how to effectively improve Safety performance ratings in each of these areas.
- Thorough knowledge of confined space, hazmat, asbestos, lead paint and other hazard policies and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment safety and assures that all required inspections of equipment onsite are completed.
- Ability to manage an entire Project field force commensurate with high risk large projects.
- Ability to provide coaching/mentoring/leadership to field supervisory staff.
- Successfully completed OSHA 30-hour safety training.
- Successfully completed First Aid and annual CPR training.
- Computer skills necessary.
