Employment Type: Full-time


Work Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days in-office, 2 days remote


Salary Range: $150,000-$180,000, based on experience


Career Level: Senior


Location: Irvine, CA or Long Beach, CA



General Responsibilities


As a Plumbing Design Engineer, you will lead all phases of healthcare-related projects-from proposal development through construction completion. You'll apply advanced engineering concepts, manage complex design and documentation efforts, and oversee budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination. You'll also mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development initiatives.


Design & Technical Leadership



  • Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex plumbing design challenges
  • Develop specifications (including Division 1) and construction estimates for large healthcare projects
  • Perform complex engineering and economic calculations and modeling
  • Troubleshoot operating systems and resolve technical disputes
  • Peer review large-scale designs and reports



Project Management



  • Administer project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Seal drawings and provide direction to design teams is a plus
  • Manage multiple large projects involving senior engineers and subconsultants
  • Lead construction meetings and produce documentation, including punch lists and meeting reports


Business Development



  • Representing P2S in client presentations and professional organizations is a plus


Education & Certification



  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • California Professional Engineering (PE) License or CPD registration (preferred)
  • PE registration in other states is a plus


Experience Required



  • 10+ years of plumbing design and project management experience
  • Strong knowledge of HCAI codes and standards, FGI Guidelines, and NFPA-99
  • Comfortable presenting complex engineering concepts to clients and stakeholders


Working Knowledge



  • California Plumbing Code
  • National Plumbing Code
  • California Energy Code
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bluebeam
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD (a plus)
