DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, the Senior Vocational Nurse performs on a regular basis the full range of patient care activities in support of clinic operations. This includes, but is not limited to, prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation, and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, assisting with training and validation of competencies of LVN and other patient care support as required, assigned to more complex tasks, and providing patient education and staff training. While there is no direct supervision by a registered nurse, clinical support, routine rounding, and ongoing education are provided by the Ambulatory Nurse Educator Team. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize critical demands, work in a team environment, and exercise independent judgment. Job standards are to be performed at the EXPERT level. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.

  • Two (2) years of LVN experience in a similar role and setting.

  • Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Must have the ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgment, and work in a team environment.

  • Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • California State Certification in Intravenous Therapy (LVN IV).

  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

  • ACLS and/or ART certification.

  • Experience in multi-specialty clinics, urgent care, express care, minute clinics, or walk-in clinics.

  • Background in primary care and ambulatory settings.

  • Skilled in point-of-care testing and clinical procedures.

  • Proficient in performing blood draws.

  • Must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.
  • Flexibility to work nights, overtime, holidays, and weekends is required to support operational needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
