I&E Technician

Huntsman is seeking and I&E Technician supporting the ADMAT Division located in Rock Hill Site. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Scope

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instrument and electrical systems across all units of the plant. The technician plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability and plant uptime, supporting both preventive and corrective maintenance efforts, while also assisting in capital project execution.

In summary, as the I&E Technician, you will:
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot instrumentation and electrical systems.

  • Perform PMs (Preventive Maintenance) as per plant procedures.

  • Support capital projects through loop checks and commissioning activities.

  • Configure instruments using HART protocol and perform installations of new equipment.

  • Identify and fulfill E&I needs, including design and installation.

  • Support inventory management and maintain accurate records.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance and operations teams.

  • Participate in EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) initiatives.

  • Follow RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) guidelines when applicable.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education required: Technical or Vocational Training in Instrumentation or Industrial Training (AIDT).

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and electrical systems, preferably in a chemical or similar manufacturing environment.

Skills and Knowledge (Behavioral and Technical)
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for diagnosing equipment failures.

  • Experience in chemical plant maintenance or industrial manufacturing.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with a Maintenance Work Order Process.

  • Willingness to work overtime, respond to call-ins, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Knowledge in calibration, testing, and installation of instrumentation/electrical equipment.

  • Ability to size and install rigid conduit.

Preferred Qualifications (a plus to have)
  • Craft certification in Electrical or Instrumentation fields.

  • Experience with:

    • Rosemount instrumentation.

    • Delta-V distributed control systems.

    • Handling corrosive materials (e.g., sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid).

Working Environment
  • This position involves physical activity and may require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

  • The role may involve handling materials regulated under RCRA (training will be provided).

  • A strong focus on safety, good housekeeping, and adherence to EHS protocols is essential.
