Position description

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production seeks a part-time lecturer for Public Speaking (TFDP 050S).

Our large-format Public Speaking course (TFDP 050S) is offered in Spring Quarter 2026 (Monday March 30-Friday June 12). The course is 150 students and serves students across disciplines. The instructor will be expected to design and deliver online lectures introducing students to the tenets and principles of speech construction and dynamic delivery. The course is practice-based and aims to provide students with the communicative skills for professional careers and community life. The instructor will work closely with three TAs to provide pedagogical support.

TFDP 050S - Public Speaking - Lecture, 3 hours; discussion, 1 hour. Covers the principles and practice of effective speech composition and delivery. Provides the essential communicative skills in professional careers and community life.

The lectures are held online; the discussion sections are held in person.

The salary is approx. $7886.33 per course, per quarter. Positions are contingent upon funding and enrollment.

Required Qualifications: MA, MFA, or equivalent experience (3 years professional and/or university instructing experience). A record of professional and/or university experience.
