Position Title: Chemist

Work Location: North Chicago Illinois, 60064

Assignment Duration: 6 Months (Possible Extension)

Work Schedule: 1st Shift, Weekends Included

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite


Position Summary

The Chemist I uses scientific education and analytical chemistry experience to perform simple to moderately complex laboratory testing within a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) laboratory to generate accurate and reliable results. This role supports API, Raw Material, In-Process, and Drug Product testing laboratories while ensuring compliance with established procedures and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and verify a wide range of laboratory techniques independently while adapting to unforeseen technical or logistical obstacles.
  • Understand multiple analytical techniques and principles; troubleshoot and resolve method- or instrument-related issues.
  • Take initiative in team activities, decision-making, and continuous improvement planning.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and recommend process improvements.
  • Proactively recognize and resolve obstacles to ensure timely completion of assigned testing.
  • Lead or support special projects to meet overall laboratory needs.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure timely product release.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during audit activities as required.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Sciences with 0-4 years of laboratory experience, OR
    • Associate Degree with at least 3 years of laboratory experience.


  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Flexibility in shifts and workdays highly desirable.
    • Ability to work under general supervision while managing time independently to multitask across responsibilities.
    • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and communication skills.


  • Desired Technical Competencies (not all required):

    • LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, ICP
    • Empower
    • Karl Fischer, dissolution, IR, titrations
    • Common wet chemical testing
