Overview

Job Summary

The Program Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for leading, scaling, and optimizing programs within North America Commercial Operations. This role will define and drive programs using program management strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and industry best practices in a highly regulated environment. As a key member of the organization, the Program Manager will contribute to the governance, execution, and continuous improvement of project management standards while serving as a cross-functional business partner in business transformation initiatives. This role will drive cross-functional collaboration, ensure project alignment with organizational objectives, and drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence. The Program Manager will play a hands-on role, overseeing programs, optimizing resource allocation, and proactively mitigating risks to maximize business impact.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership & PMO Development

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of scalable, best-in-class project governance framework, ensuring alignment with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Influence to the development ofproject portfolio management (PPM) standards, KPIs, and governance controls to optimize project execution and business outcomes.
  • Affect organizational change management initiatives, ensuring seamless adoption of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Portfolio & Project Execution Oversight

  • Oversee and optimize programs to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while maximizing ROI.
  • Lead highly visible, complex projects and programs, working cross-functionally with key stakeholders to drive business transformation.
  • Contribute and monitor performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to ensure transparency and strategic alignment.
  • Drive risk management and mitigation strategies, proactively identifying and resolving project roadblocks that may impact business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Executive Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the head of the Project Management Office, providing data-driven recommendations to optimize resource allocation, project prioritization, and risk management.
  • Present project/program performance updates, risk analyses, and insights to varying levels of leadership.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Recommend and implement cutting-edge project and program management technologies to enhance efficiency and visibility.
  • Continuously refine PMO frameworks, identifying opportunities to drive greater agility, scalability, and business impact.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation, ensuring the PMO remains a high-performing function that evolves with business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, project management, STEM or a related field required, Master's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.
  • Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe, PgMP, or CSM) strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma or Change Management certification (e.g., CSSBB, Prosci) preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of Program Management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and biotech industry or hospital integrated networks is preferred.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and align cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Expertise in project and portfolio management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, ServiceNow PPM, PMO365).
  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to assess business cases, manage budgets, and drive ROI.
  • Deep understanding of change management principles and ability to drive organizational adoption of new ways of working.
  • Highly analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights while drving results.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrates exceptional emotional intelligence, resilience, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Brings strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking, and sound decision-making to complex challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead advanced complexity (or greater) programs. Which involves high uncertainty, intricate interdependencies, and dynamic stakeholder demands; requiring adaptive planning, agile execution, and strong collaboration to manage risks and achieve strategic goals.

Travel requirements:Approximately 35% of overnight travel is required.
