Blueprint Medicines, a Sanofi company, is a global biopharmaceutical company that invents life-changing medicines. Leveraging our established research, development, and commercial capability and infrastructure, we aim to significantly scale our impact by advancing a broad pipeline of programs ranging from early science to advanced clinical trials in mast cell diseases and solid tumors.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic co-op intern to join our medicinal chemistry team. This lab-based internship will provide an introductory experience into the drug discovery process. Working under the supervision of a senior chemist, the intern will design and synthesize novel chemical matter for evaluation in a preclinical program. The intern will analyze and interpret data to build upon existing structure activity relationships, informing the design of subsequent generations of targets. In addition to developing their skills in multistep organic synthesis, the intern will learn and apply basic principles of medicinal chemistry, including structure-based drug design, ADME properties, and PK optimization.

Projects will be crafted along one or multiple of the following key areas based on interest and business needs:

• Propose potential synthetic routes and carry out multistep organic synthesis to generate novel chemical matter. The chemist will utilize a variety of chemical reactions, purification techniques (extraction, crystallization, silica chromatography, reverse-phase HPLC, etc.), and analytical techniques (LC-MS, NMR, etc.), and practice good record-keeping in an electronic notebook.
• Present data and summarized results both orally and in written form, within multidisciplinary team meeting
• Take detailed notes about the experimental design and conditions, record these experimental results in both electronic notebook and presentation format
• Learn and practice the basic principles of structure-based drug design (SBDD) through data analysis and practice designing new compounds, using software such as D360, LiveDesign, Flare, Spark, and Maestro.
• Meet weekly with their manager to discuss progress and review relevant topics in organic and medicinal chemistry (tailored to the intern's level of chemistry education).
• Attend weekly chemistry team meetings and provide a monthly update to the chemistry team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ONSITE EXPECTATIONS (DAYS PER WEEK): This is a lab-based position, we expect 5 days on site.

Qualifications:

• Senior, or Master's/PhD level, pursuing a degree in Chemistry or a related major
• Must have successfully completed Organic Chemistry courses (I and II or equivalent) with lab.

What additional qualifications will make you a stronger candidate?

• Interested in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, and drug discovery.
• Experience in multi-step organic syntheses preferred.

Our Co-op Program:

Blueprint's Co-op program is ~6 months long. The program is designed to provide students with deep functional expertise within their department and a broad understanding of the life sciences industry. Co-ops are paired with dedicated mentors for personalized learning and career development guidance. The program includes lunch and learn sessions, networking events, a student volunteer day, and other networking opportunities. It culminates in a final poster presentation where interns showcase their work.

Dress Code: Blueprint's offices are a business casual environment. Business casual means attire that is professional but also relaxed, such as slacks or business dress pants, skirts/dresses, khakis, chinos, or dark jeans without holes paired with button-down shirts, sweaters, blouses, or polo shirts and closed-toed shoes. It typically excludes formal suits or very casual clothing such as athletic wear or flip flops.

Spring 2026 Co-op Program Dates: Monday, January 5^th - Friday, June 26^th

Pay Range: Our Co-ops are paid hourly based on previous Co-op experience. The expected pay range for this role is $27.00 - $32.00 per hour.

Who will my employer be?

You will be employed by Magnit, LLC for all purposes and not Blueprint Medicines, a Sanofi Company. As your employer, Magnit will assign you to provide services to Blueprint as a co-op or intern.
