Florida Blue's Remote IT Summer Internship program is designed to give college juniors, seniors, and graduate students a hands-on look at our business processes and the tech systems that power them. You'll work on real projects, get on-the-job training, and partner with a mentor from your track-specific team.

Generative AI

You'll dive deep into the world of generative AI, developing, fine-tuning, and deploying models that tackle complex business problems at GuideWell. Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to bring AI capabilities to life and integrate solutions that drive efficiency and innovation.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A strong foundation in Natural Language Processing (NLP) with a solid grasp of machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
  • Proficiency in transformer-based architectures and working knowledge of large language models (LLMs), with applied experience in leveraging open-source LLMs strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, with expertise in frameworks like TensorFlow and/or PyTorch and LangChain
  • Data manipulation and statistical analysis skills
  • A passion for generative AI that drives you to push boundaries and explore new possibilities
  • A background in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, Data Science, Mathematics/Statistics, etc. is preferred.

Infrastructure

As an Infrastructure intern, you'll help in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to safeguard our company data, databases, and information systems. You'll be the one who keeps our technology secure, efficient, and running at peak performance.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A knack for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting technology
  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining complex systems
  • A passion for keeping our digital kingdom safe and secure
  • The skills to develop and implement policies that protect our tech assets

Basic skills/experience:

  • Knowledge of Linux commands and understanding on how to work with Linux boxes
  • Basic understanding of OpenShift and Kubernetes

As a Cloud Services intern, you'll delve into the world of infrastructure as code, networking, automation, data storage, and security, using industry-leading platforms like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Data Analytics

As a Data Analytics intern, you'll work on real-world business problems and publicly available datasets, applying cutting-edge techniques like data wrangling, model development, and visualization.

You'll be focused on data analytics, business intelligence, and data quality assessment for Florida Blue, working to drive business growth and improve health outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to be:

  • Passionate and inquisitive, always seeking to learn and improve
  • A quick learner, able to adapt to new tools and techniques
  • An expert "Googler", able to find creative solutions to complex problems
  • Have basic skills in SQL, R, and/or Python.

Data Science

As a Data Science intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, collaborate with experienced data scientists and engineers, and contribute to the development of innovative data analytics solutions. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying data analytics models and algorithms to solve business problems, analyzing large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.

Key skills required include knowledge of machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, data analysis, and visualization, as well as strong collaboration and communication skills.

To be successful in this role, you are required to be:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Physics and Computational Biology.
  • Skilled in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Analytical, detailed, and have the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Taking high-level computer science and math courses, such as Data Structures and Algorithm, Calculus I, Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, Calculus II

Application Development

As an application developer, you'll have the chance to showcase your creative skills, leveraging your knowledge of web development, design, and programming to craft solutions that make a real impact.

You'll focus on developing new applications, exploring new technologies, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. You'll need excellent communication skills to collaborate with teams, gather requirements, and design solutions that meet business needs.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Strong programming skills languages like Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, or Swift
  • Knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with version control systems like Git
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, or Angular
  • Familiarity with back-end frameworks such as Node.js
  • A finger on the pulse of current technology trends and a desire to stay ahead of the curve

Business Analyst

As a Business System Analyst intern, you'll define and document business requirements, as well as collaborate with software developers, product owners, and testers to bring innovative solutions to life.

You'll help with end-to-end capabilities and assist in guiding projects from concept to production deployment. With your troubleshooting skills, you'll identify and resolve application defects, ensuring that business and end-user needs are met.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A strong understanding of business operations and processes.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable parts.
  • Experience with business analysis tools and techniques, such as use cases, user stories, and process mapping.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with SQL database is preferred.

Must Have's:

  • Currently enrolled in computer science, information technology, mathematics, psychology, or related degree program as a Graduate student pursuing a Master's degree at an accredited college/university in May 2026

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better during the duration of the internship

  • Must be able to commit to working at least 30 hours a week

  • Basic PC skills required including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Basic programming knowledge, JavaScript/HTML/CSS or other Object Oriented programming experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; team and collaboration-oriented

  • Work under minimal supervision and adapt to a dynamic, changing environment

  • Must be a creative and innovative thinker

Hourly Pay Range: $14 - $22

Typical Hourly Pay Range: $14 - $17

Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
