Description

The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) seeks to hire a full-time Job Developer for the Refugee Resettlement Department. The Job Developer is responsible for ensuring compliance with employment requirements via the Refugee Resettlement Guidelines, which includes employment preparation with job skills training, job club classes, resume and interview preparation with every employable adult and navigating employment trends in the San Antonio area. This position is Union eligible. This position is grant-funded. If there is a substantial reduction in funding or funding ceases, the position may be terminated and/or subject to applicable CBA requirements.

Responsibilities:




  • Conducts regular research on businesses in the San Antonio area and provides outreach to build a network of employers willing to hire newly arrived refugees and refugee-like populations into appropriate and sustainable positions;
  • Develops and maintains relationships with this network of employers;
  • Serves as a liaison between employers and the RAICES Refugee Resettlement Program;
  • Supports refugee clients in applying for job vacancies and assists with communication between the employer and applicant, as needed;
  • Assists with the job skills orientation and training process for refugee clients who are hired, as needed;
  • Represents the Refugee Resettlement Program in meet-and-greet sessions and tours of potential employers, occasional community presentations, outreach activities, and workshops;
  • Encourages coworkers and refugee clients to help find job opportunities/contacts and potential mentors in the community, including, but not limited to relationships with religious institutions, stores they shop at, organizations they belong to, etc.; and,
  • Completes administrative responsibilities, including timekeeping, case file documentation, activity tracking, timely database entries, and other tasks related to program compliance.
  • Other services as assigned in support of programmatic needs.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a Social Service or Human Resources related field
  • 1-2 years in social services evaluating clients' background, skills, and interests and matches to potential job openings or training programs.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with refugee or immigrant populations in a community or social services setting;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English; and,
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have access to reliable, insured transportation.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 2+ years' coaching and preparing candidates for interview and entry into the workforce.
  • 2+ years' of establishing and maintaining relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public and private agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing in one or more refugee languages, including Arabic, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Pashto, and Spanish and;
  • Familiarity with the San Antonio area job market.

Hybrid Work Plan

Please Note: Employees are expected to live within the assigned geographic location in order to commute to and from the office or assigned on-site location(s) as business or client needs require.



  • Currently, all interviews are virtual.
  • All positions will require working remotely and in-office at the assigned work location.
  • Applicants must reside in the state of Texas.
  • Relocation assistance may be provided to candidates willing to relocate.
