DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Department Supervisor, the Front Desk Receptionist performs a variety of clerical duties to support daily patient services within clinical areas. This role manages all clinic calls following UCSD Experience and telephone guidelines, including triaging calls and directing them to the appropriate staff.

The Front Desk Receptionist provides exceptional customer service by greeting patients upon arrival, overseeing registration and insurance verification, collecting co-payments, and processing daily deposits. They also schedule and confirm patient appointments accurately, offering clear directions and detailed information.

Serving as a key liaison among physicians, nurses, and Radiation Oncology staff, this position requires proficient use of multiple computer systems simultaneously. Additional duties are assigned as needed to support the clinic's smooth operation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Superb customer service skills.

  • Proficient in typing and creating well-organized emails.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong scheduling background.

  • Experience working with the medical center's various computer programs, including PCIS, EPIC, IDX, RIS.

  • Experience working in Radiation Oncology, Oncology, or any cancer-related clinic setting.

  • One year of experience in patient registration.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,399 - $71,347 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.49 - $34.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
