The Water Treatment Technician ensures the Plant is supplied with process water and the solids are re-circulated back into the system for use.The incumbent receives guidance from the Boardmill Team Manager, VSIC and Boardmill Engineer. They interfaces with Plant Supervisors to ensure treatment plant remains operable so the plant can operate and work as a team with the other Treatment Plant Technicians and the Boardmill group. Also, completes the necessary PM's and/or basic maintenance on critical treatment plant equipment.

What does an AWI Water Treatment Tech do?

  • Ensures the effective and timely management of process water and solids for the Plant.
  • Proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Minimization of wastewater discharge.
  • Ensures all State and Federal water and environmental requirements are met.

Value Added Activities (% Time Spent):

  • 30% Controls solids level and content
  • 30% Manages water flow
  • 20% Cleans/maintains Treatment Plant area
  • 10% Keeps log of flows and activities
  • 10% Performs analytical tests on water

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, filter presses, piping for the effective operation of the treatment plant.
  • Ability to successfully run analytical tests and record data accurately for key compliance activities.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery (Payloader) to load Effluent Wet Broke into the process.
