Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions |
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for our Adjunct Faculty Temporary Pool in the Engineering Management program. We seek dynamic, student-focused instructors to teach on an as-needed basis. This temporary pool is used to identify qualified candidates for part-time teaching opportunities as they arise.
Adjunct appointments are made on a course-by-course basis and may vary each academic term depending on enrollment and departmental needs. The position is located at Pacific's Stockton campus.
Adjunct faculty in Engineering Management are responsible for:
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas such as engineering project management, systems engineering, decision making, product design, engineering economics, and related engineering management topics.
- Preparing and delivering lectures, leading discussions, and developing course materials (syllabi, assignments, assessments, etc.).
- Maintaining regular office hours to provide academic support and mentoring to students.
- Assessing student learning and providing timely feedback.
- Collaborating with program faculty to ensure consistency and excellence in course delivery and outcomes.
Review of applications will occur on an ongoing basis.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Master's degree in Engineering Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in project management in engineering or construction environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional).
- Prior university-level teaching experience.
- Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Industry experience in engineering or construction project leadership roles.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed during standard hours, but additional hours may be required to meet academic needs or deadlines. |
Hiring Range |
$9,000-$12,000 ($3,000 per unit) (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.) |
