POSITION SUMMARY:
The EMI coordinator is responsible for controlling, coordinating, and overseeing the daily perpetual and periodic inventory of medical surgical, specialty surgical supplies, and clinical equipment to fulfill supply and equipment needs within the OR and Endoscopy departments. Other duties include orientation and mentoring of staff; care, input into the annual operation budget and strategic business plans and assist in the Quality Improvement Process.
EDUCATION:
An associate's degree in electronics, biomedical engineering, or an equivalent technical field is preferred. Completion of advanced service schools pertaining to the specific equipment as evidenced by program certificates.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work equipment maintenance and inventory management experience. Hand,s on experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical component level support and maintenance on both general and specific clinical equipment and supplies. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
* Ability to perform work-lead responsibilities such as training and orienting new employees, assigning and reviewing work for completeness and accuracy, scheduling work, and other coordinating and support duties for a supervisor/manager. Demonstrates to the Business manager the ability to teach physicians, nurses, surgical techs, and all other staff associated with equipment the theory and operation of each. * Ability to respond with flexibility to unusual and emergent situations, remain calm in stressful and emergency situations, work different shifts and schedules as needed, work overtime when directed by management. * Ability to work independently and prioritize duties during time of stress * Ability to learn and evaluate new equipment, supplies, and procedures quickly. Displays knowledge of location, operation and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies. * Interacts daily with multiple hospital departments along with physicians, and the Perioperative clinical staff, support staff and management. (Example: Facilities, Biomedical, Purchasing, Safety/Security, Environmental Services, IT Services, Surgery Departments, etc.). This communication is done by written correspondence (ex. Email, mail), verbal correspondence through telephone and in person
