(Seasonal) Winter Lights Admission Attendants Winter Lights, our largest fundraiser, transforms our gardens into a dazzling display of lights from November 15th through January 4th, 2026, creating an enchanting experience for all who visit. As part of our seasonal team, you'll help bring this wonder to life, ensuring that our guests enjoy a cozy, memorable evening surrounded by beauty. If you're looking to spread holiday cheer and be part of something special, we'd love to have you on board! We are currently seeking several candidates to join us for Winter Lights as Admission Attendants. Admission Attendants are often the first friendly faces to greet our guests for Winter Lights. The primary focus of this position will be to welcome guests, scan tickets or assist in the purchase process. The show will run from November 15th through January 4th. Pay will be $16 per hour. Each shift will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will end around 9:00 p.m. (depending on the queues and tasks assigned). Primary duties will include:
- Assist patrons at Winter Lights by performing duties, such as checking event tickets, scanning admission barcodes on phones, paper or other electronic devices.
- Prevent the admittance of persons without tickets using tact and professionalism and resolves scanning issues in a timely courteous manner.
- Use the ticketing system to check ticket availability and sell tickets using Eventbrite.
- Performs cash and credit card transactions accurately and complies with all transaction procedures and guidelines for payment transactions.
- Answer basic questions and inquiries for guests.
- Actively communications with Lead Admissions personnel, Public Safety and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Represents The North Carolina Arboretum and its Winter Lights show in a positive way that reflects our mission to Cultivate Connections between People, Plants and Things.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
Evening and weekend work is required. Holiday availability is REQUIRED. A mandatory paid training will be offered before the show begins. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills Must be at least 18 years of age. Background checks are conducted upon hire. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills Customer service, retail and/or cash handling experience is preferred. Competencies Customer Service: This position will require strong customer service skills including a solid knowledge of event procedures, attentiveness to customer feedback and the ability to use positive language. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to resolve problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Ability to reliably and predictably carry out your duties.
