Description

Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for an Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselor plans, organizes, executes, and manages activities within designated geographic markets and states for the purpose of recruiting students acceptable for admission to Washington College.

This is a 12-month, exempt position and reports to the Director of Admissions. The expected annual salary range for this position is $44,000 - $47,000. This is an in-person position located on the main campus in Chestertown, MD.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Manages data and activities within assigned geographic markets
  • Interviews and evaluates prospects and applicants
  • Reviews and evaluates applications and makes recommendations for admission decisions
  • Compiles and manages data to support the scheduling of recruitment travel
  • Attends high school visits and college fairs within assigned geographic markets
  • Coordinates communication between professors, coaches, staff, faculty and alumni with prospects and applicants
  • Coordinates prospect and applicant visits to campus
  • Coordinates counselor and student group visits to campus
  • Develops relationships and maintains contact with high school counselors, prospects, applicants, parents, and alumni volunteers
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements specific projects assigned by the Director of Admissions
  • Valid driver's license as some travel required
  • Work schedule requires some evenings and Saturdays


Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required; above-average academic record and evidence of active campus life
  • Minimum of one year experience in a liberal arts environment
  • Ability to learn various college programs, fields of study, extracurricular activities and align those with prospective students of widely diverse interests and backgrounds
