Position Purpose |
Working closely with the Associate Provost and Chief Financial Officer, the
Provost Division Fiscal Officer manages the full range of financial services, including budget planning, forecasting, and financial analysis, for a portfolio of Provost division departments, centers, institutes, and programs. The role provides strategic and operational financial guidance and support, contributing to the advancement of divisional and institutional priorities while ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. The role also develops and maintains a deep understanding of areas within the Provost division. |

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Financial Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years of relevant financial and administrative experience.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in accounting, spreadsheets, and related financial systems.
- Experience in grant and budget management, including strategic planning, cost-benefit analysis, and development of multi-year fiscal plans.
- Ability to set priorities and respond effectively to pressures, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Advanced degree, i.e. MBA or CPA.
- Comprehensive experience in grant administration in an academic setting.
- Higher education or nonprofit management experience strongly preferred.

Description |
Provost Division Fiscal Officer -
- Provides management from transaction level oversight to reporting and support through the full fiscal year cycle for a portfolio of departments, centers, institutes, and programs in the Provost division.
- Provides analysis, decision support, and recommendations for multi-year planning and annual budgets for assigned units.
- Participates in developing and communicating strategic financial priorities for the Provost division.
- Meets regularly with area leaders to discuss material issues and ensure open communication, optimal resource allocation.
- Represents the Office of the Provost in Dartmouth-wide committees, initiatives, and professional development activities, contributing to continuous improvement for Dartmouth and its constituencies.
