Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Executive Director for the UNM Lobo Club and the Associate AD of Business Operations, this position will assist with the financial management of the UNM Lobo Club and support the overall business operations of the Athletic Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage UNM Lobo Club credit cards, reimbursements, gift-in-kind forms, and other business operations.
  • Assists with reconciliation, record keeping, and overall donor cultivation efforts related to Sport Enhancement Funds, Endowments, and other restricted gift accounts created to benefit the Athletic Department.
  • Coordinates, compiles, and analyzes annual financial statements for the UNM Lobo Club and reconcile accounts in Quickbooks.
  • Oversees the design, documentation, and implementation of various integrated systems and applications for periodic and ad hoc financial reporting, utilizing complex electronic financial information from UNM systems and databases (ChromeRiver, Banner, Paciolan, Salesforce, Quickbooks, etc).
  • Assists with UNM Athletic Department business operations including, but not limited to, P-Card assistance, the development of game contracts, and record keeping.
  • Participates in the development of annual operating budget for the UNM Lobo Club and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
  • Prepare financial documents and materials for UNM Lobo Club board meetings, as needed.
  • Maintains and creates internal controls to adhere to non-profit state guidelines.
  • Ensures records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
  • May supervise student workers.
  • Participates in short-and long-range organizational and operational planning for the UNM Lobo Club.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information of the organizational entity, and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborates with and coordinates all components of the organization to ensure consistent reporting and adherence to federal and state financial reporting regulations and guidelines, and conformity with university fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes, designs, documents, and implements internal financial reporting systems and procedures for the organization.
  • Maintains records, contracts, and financial records on behalf of the athletic department.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 9 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.
  • Database management skills.
  • Knowledge and operational ability in QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of donation/ticketing systems (e.g. Paciolan, Salesforce)
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and administer financial information and control systems.
  • Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex annual financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of the principles, processes, and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting as related to a public institution.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
