Major Duties

Classification: Non-Exempt / Non-Bargaining

Assist with complex, full-cycle payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, local and bargaining unit contract regulations. Involves processing various payments related to wages, deductions, and taxes as well as resolving discrepancies and providing support to employees.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, prepare and audit data applicable to employee records to ensure accurate payment of wages for 2,000+ hourly and salaried employees in multiple states on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis
  • Update and maintain employee records within HRIS software for taxes, earnings, deductions, and time entry
  • Print payroll checks and direct deposit advices
  • Assist with assurance of compliance with federal, state and bargaining unit contract laws and regulations
  • Research and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding employee records
  • Assist with analysis and testing of system modifications related to payroll and time and labor processes
  • Reconcile payroll deductions to the corresponding general ledger accounts and create necessary journal entries
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and provide necessary documentation to internal and external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Associates degree and 3+ years of experience in payroll administration preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented team player with ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Able to work under pressure with strict deadlines
