The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state. New York Independent System Operator in Rensselaer, NY seeks a Senior Planning Engineer, Reliability Studies to conduct studies regarding system reliability and regulatory impacts on transmission system security and reliability. Analyses performed by Reliability Studies Engineers support reliability compliance and transmission infrastructure development throughout the New York bulk power system. This position will also support the parent System Planning Department which provides transmission related engineering studies, models and database information, to stakeholders, including market participant committees, the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS), the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Northeast Power Coordination Council (NPCC), the New York State Reliability Council (NYSRC), and Eastern Interconnection Planning Collaborative (EIPC). Specifically, the Senior Planning Engineer, Reliability Studies will perform the following duties:
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field. The successful candidate must have 2 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer and experience with the following technologies and standards are required:
