Description

Responsible for teaching information technology classes including but not limited to Computer Logic COBOL Visual Basic and computer software and the coordination of the Associate in Applied Science degrees in Information Technology Computer Applications and Information Technology Programming. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with an estimated January 2026 start date. Salary range listed is not inclusive of any overload or summer assignments.


Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the Division Chair or appropriate Administrator for review.
  2. Teach classes assigned by the Division Chair and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the college.
  3. In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare textbook recommendations and submit to the Division Chair for review.
  4. File with the librarian a bibliography of library books to be used in each course.
  5. Prepare for the annual budget requests for instructional equipment and materials including maps books audio-visual aids and other supplies and submit these requests to the Division Chair for recommendation.
  6. Prepare requests for the purchase of new library books and materials as needed and submit these requests to the Division Chair for review.
  7. Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the institution.
  8. Attend division meetings called by the Division Chair and faculty meetings called by the administrative officers.
  9. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
  10. Cooperate in the promotion of extra curricular activities by accepting reasonable assignments and encouraging student participation.
  11. Serve on such committees for the betterment of the college as may be established by the administration and faculty.
  12. Assist in registration as needed.
  13. Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary seek additional help from other college services.
  14. Observe support and enforce the regulations policies and programs of the college and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the college.
  15. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  16. Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
  17. Advise students assigned by student services.
  18. Demonstrate commitment to the teaching/learning process.
  19. Focus upon student recruitment retention and success.
  20. Use a variety of methods and teaching strategies that reflect the different learning styles and needs of students.
  21. Show an understanding of the community college philosophy including its unique ties to the workforce and its district.
  22. Work as a member of a team.
  23. Participate in development activities and maintain current perspectives in class presentations.
  24. Engage in activities aimed at promoting the Information TechnologyComputer Applications and Programming Programs Business Division and Lake Land College to potential and current students.
  25. Engage in activities related to the coordination of the Information TechnologyComputer Applications and Information TechnologyProgramming Programs.
  26. Develop assess and maintain data for course and program assessment.
  27. Other related duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Master degree in Information Technology preferred; will consider Master degree in Business.

Experience Requirements:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in the discipline (and a minimum of 2000 hours demonstrable work experience in field.)

Knowledge:
  • Curriculum development, community college philosophy and population.

Skills:
  • Good command of the English language and the ability to use multi-media technology.

Personal Requirements:
  • Positive attitude, spirit of cooperation, enthusiastic and open-minded.
