Position Overview:

The Electrical Engineer provides engineering support for capital projects from concept to completion, including cost estimates, design, procurement, construction oversight, startup assistance, and documentation. Additional responsibilities include working with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop project roadmaps and support complex repairs and maintenance efforts of the plant electrical, instrument, and control system.

How you will impact Ingevity:

  • Support the maintenance of accurate and effective documentation for instrument, electrical, and control systems
  • Integrate with and create teams including, but not limited to, safety program progress, root cause failure analysis and operational stewardship
  • Provides oversight of capital projects and ensures project cost/budget, performance, and timing commitments are met
  • Leads implementation of engineering standard practices
  • Provides technical support to the Operations Team, through problem-solving and Continuous Improvement methods
  • Builds and maintains teamwork within team and between other teams at the plant and within the company.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for project management. Keeps management current on project status
  • Develops, coordinates, reviews and analyzes specific Capital proposals to determine whether benefits derived justify expenditures
  • Support training activities for production, maintenance, and technical personnel on an as needed basis to ensure compliance with NFPA guidelines and OSHA regulations
  • Follows safety procedures and wears appropriate PPE
  • Practices the IngeviWay
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 15+ years of experience with industrial power and electrical systems, including high voltage power distribution. This should include experience in providing maintenance support to production operations
  • Extensive theoretical and applied knowledge of electrical engineering principles applied in an industrial facility
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems is preferred
  • Strategic planning capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be an active and engaged safety leader to build and maintain a strong safety culture to achieve zero personal and process safety incidents
  • Physical Requirements: sitting at a desk for 8 hours, standing for 12-16 hours, Climbing stairs and ladders, walking for 2-8 hours per day
  • Work Environment: office setting, outdoors manufacturing plant setting, hazardous chemicals environment, construction site setting
