Description

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Summary:

Surimi Foreperson I is responsible for data entry of various Surimi Department information and reports under the direction of Surimi Supervisors and/or Surimi Managers. Surimi facilities are equipped with specialized machinery and equipment for processing fish into surimi.

Note: Surimi Foreperson I residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of fifteen dollars per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Compiles and analyzes data for everyday reports on ingredients and packaging tracking, safety, food safety and maintenance reports, file maintenance requests.
  • Transfers data from written records and paper formats to digital formats
  • Maintains updated Surimi Department database systems for BRC, OSHA, USDA, and other audits, prepares reports for internal and external audits.
  • Receives, files, organizes ordered parts. Monitors and maintains current inventory system, identifies needs, and acquires supplies for Surimi Department.
  • Conducts safety and food safety meetings, JSA training sessions, 5 Down trainings, MBU meetings.
  • Pulls reports for customers as needed.
  • Maintains optimal inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Responds to calls, radio calls, emails, and requests.
  • Maintains an accurate record of labor hours of Surimi employees; requests correction of hours as needed.
  • Assists in Surimi Lab testing (take samples, do testing, file testing results if necessary)
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety training.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
  • Read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Preferred education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Ability to use/operate a computer; strong understanding of Microsoft Office 365.

Additional eligibility requirements (language skills, training, certifications, DL, licensing):

  • Familiarity with the surimi production process, including the principles of fish deboning, washing, grinding, and forming surimi paste.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices to ensure the production of safe and high-quality surimi products.
  • The ability to conduct precise measurements, perform quality control checks, and follow strict procedures to maintain product consistency and quality.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call): While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands: This position may be required to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy loads and working in cold environments. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
