POSITION SPECIFICS This position is the senior financial aid counselor at Penn State Berks (working title Associate Director of Financial Aid) and is the direct supervisor of the of the Financial Aid Counselor(s). The primary role of this position is to assist prospective students and their families with the financial aid process from application through the disbursement of funds into their account, and to support and provide guidance and help regarding financial aid for our current students and their families - ultimately successfully retaining students to graduation with as little debt as possible. This position manages and is responsible for the awarding and records keeping of all recruitment scholarships and Berks endowed scholarships and awards. The Associate Director will directly train, mentor, and supervise the Financial Aid Counselor(s). This includes training in Financial Aid, Federal, State, and University laws, regulations, and policies. Set their yearly goals, meet regularly with them, and complete their annual year-end review. Manages and oversees the entire campus scholarship program, including but not limited to campus endowed scholarships and awards and select scholarships and awards from The Office of Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Admissions for Berks students. Will create and use lists of awarded students, create award letters, and email letters to each awarded student. Record and manage accurate amounts of endowed scholarships and work closely with Berks' Development Office to hold true to the integrity and balance of the endowed monies. Will work closely with Director of Enrollment Management to analyze data to maintain/create the best methods of awarding scholarships. This position is a member of the Berks' Enrollment Management Committee, Care Team, Lion's Roar newsletter, the DEIB committee, and the Staff Advisory Council. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
