Kickstart your career with HDR's Building Engineering Services (BES) Group!

If you're curious about electrical machines, circuits/networks, instrumentation, digital and analog logic, electromagnetism, and want to see the application of academic work in real-world projects, this co-op is for you. We're looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Louisville office for the Spring 2026 co-op. Be part of one of HDR's fastest-growing and most exciting teams.

In the role of Intern Engineering, we'll count on you to:
  • Gain hands-on experience in the processes and planning performed to design and construct industrial and utility facilities, as well as general buildings.
  • Work alongside talented engineers of various experience levels, interact with engineers of multiple disciplines, and architects.
  • Learn about codes, standards, and software utilized for developing a building or facility.

In the role of Electrical Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Under the direct supervision of full-time engineer(s), assist with routine electrical engineering tasks for small to large projects in varied phases of their life cycles.
  • Apply principles of electrical engineering and assist in drawing development, calculations, technical writing, and other project documentation.
  • Proactively discuss interdisciplinary issues with other engineering teams.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer 2 years completed towards an electrical engineering degree.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
  • Familiar with software packages such as AutoCAD and/or Revit, being well-versed in Office tools
  • Completion of the course/lab-work in the following is a bonus: basics of electromagnetism, electrical circuits/networks, and digital logic.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
