The Nuclear Site Facilities and Response Specialist performs inspections, testing, and minor/preventative maintenance on site fire protection alarm systems and fire suppression systems/equipment. Monitors and maintains the site transient combustible and hot work programs. Performs inspections, testing, and minor/preventative maintenance on site beyond design basis event mitigation equipment. Sets up and operates portable pumps, pumper-trucks, loaders, portable generators, and hauling and support equipment. Provides support to laborers, supplemental employees, and contracted personnel in the day-to-day activities to ensure all areas of the Nuclear Station are safe and that fire protection and FLEX equipment and systems are in working order and ready to respond. Works within plant procedures to provide fire watch, oil/hazmat emergency response, adverse weather response, heavy equipment operations, and forklift operations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences (Minimum Requirements)

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:


  • 2-3+ years of directly related experience in surveillance testing and preventative maintenance (with preferred related Associate's degree).
  • Knowledge of station policies and procedures.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently execute work.
  • Demonstrates high level of ownership for one's responsibilities, persists through adversity and follows through with commitments.
  • Acts with bias for action to challenge and correct behaviors and promote high standards of performance.
  • Demonstrates high level integrity, safety, professionalism, and appropriate behavior driven results.
  • Ability and desire to proactively communicate information with personnel and station leaders in a manner that is honest, direct and meaningful.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and work management software.
  • Must have strong knowledge of the station activities, work practices, equipment, systems and grounds.
  • Must have knowledge and skills to maintain the material condition of the station, including a good general understanding of safe, effective practices for inspections, testing, and supporting other departments with routine needs.


Education - Minimum Requirement

Associate Preferred in Fire Protection or Safety

Note: If degree preferred, then the degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience are accepted in lieu of preferred degree. If degree is required, then the equivalency is not accepted in lieu of the required degree.

Badge Requirement

Will need to meet all training, drug/alcohol, and background screening elements required to obtain unescorted access at an operating nuclear power plant.


Physical/Mental Requirements

Must have visual acuity to perform tasks, and ability to stand, balance, stoop, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, pull/push, perform repetitive motions, grasp/manual dexterity, hear and talk to perform this assignment. Must also have capacity to think, concentrate and focus over long periods of time, ability to read and write complex documents in English, reason and make sound decisions, and express thoughts orally.



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $72,800 - $93,600. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
