The Senior Research Data Analyst/Data Manager will work directly with the Principal Investigators of the centers, as well as other faculty and staff members, to provide data analysis and data management support for clinical research and health policy research focused on from involving musculoskeletal conditions.
Data are collected as part of multicenter clinical trials and observational registries.
The incumbent will facilitate the data coordination and data analysis aspects of our centers. Primary job functions will include the development of data management systems, pre-processing of complex longitudinal data, oversight of data coordinating center activities with a focus on the following: development of data collection systems; development and maintenance of manuals that document Data Management Procedures; development of the system for data quality assurance; oversight of formulation and dissemination of high-level summary reports on study progress. Additional responsibilities include complex data pre-processing and data analysis, participation in investigators meetings, protocol development, and updating and refining analytic datasets.

We are presently seeking a full-time Senior Research Data Analyst/Data Manager to work with our internationally recognized, multidisciplinary health policy and clinical outcomes research team at the Orthopaedic and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research (OrACORe) as well as the Policy and Innovation eValuation in Orthopaedic Treatments (PIVOT) Center, both in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The incumbent will be essential to the research operations of OrACORe/PIVOT and will be an integral member of the centers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop, organize, create, and maintain study databases/data collection systems using REDCap

*Create and run the Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) reports including tables, figures, listings.

*Collaborate with clinical investigators and senior project biostatisticians in the development and implementation of statistical analysis plans, data analysis, and preparation of tables and figures for study manuscripts. Assist with manuscript review and the validation of data abstractions.

*Pre-process complex data from national cohort studies, EHR, and hospital-based administrative data

*Develop, code, run, and distribute reports used in study management, including reports for data querying and cleaning, study monitoring, analyses, and data quality checking.

* Write code to extract data from the REDCap Electronic Data Capture System and maintain internal data files for use in reporting and analysis

*Provide user support for REDCap systems for site coordinators and study investigators, including the development of training materials. Collaborate with study coordinators and investigators to resolve data queries in REDCap.

*Generate custom and/or deidentified datasets for data repositories, ancillary studies, and/or public distribution.

*Collaborate with statisticians to maintain code base. Create and maintain documentation of datasets and data processes.

*Work on optimization and automation of coding, reports, and data processes.

*Collaborate with study staff in developing components of data management systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Leadership skills, experience in supervision of data management personnel
  • At least 5 years of experience with database management or data processing/analysis experience
  • High proficiency in statistical computing; SAS programming skills desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail and process oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including both long-term and term and short-term projects
  • Ability to learn to use new software programs

  • Interest in public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, medicine, and/or computer science
