About this Role

Our Assembly Production Trainers are important members of the Silgan Dispensing team. They provide on the job training to new associates joining the organization as they learn their role on the production floor.

  • Provide thorough and effective on the job training to new associates as assigned
  • Ensure training follows the designed training program, ISO documentation and provided training resources
  • Ability to access, evaluate, track, and analyze employees training progress
  • Evaluate trainee's progress and provide ongoing feedback during the training process
  • Effectively communicate with the training coordinator, HR, supervisors, team leads, management and associates at all levels of the organization
  • Have complete knowledge of policies, products, defects, and procedures
  • Effectively operate all assembly production work areas, including quality, to consistently meet production goals and safety standards with in-depth knowledge about either department.
  • Exhibit high performance behaviors such as accountability, teamwork, initiative, dependability, communication skills, and being proactive in addressing issues or defects.
  • Run assembly production machines on the production floor as necessary if no trainees are in process.
  • Participate in training meetings and activities for professional development as a trainer and apply these training skills during the training process

Qualified Candidates must have

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing role or 1-2 years related experience as a trainer in a manufacturing facility.
  • Bilingual speaking between English & Spanish a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of products, defects, machines, safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, nights or weekends.
  • Effective with email communications
  • Experience using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and preferred PowerPoint

Safety Responsibilities

Participation is vital for an effective safety program. Experience and participation from employees contribute greatly to identification of potential work hazards. A safety program and safe work environment will only be successful when everyone is fully engaged and always committed.

  • Know and understand plant and safety goals.
  • Correct any hazards found within the scope of training/ability.
  • Employees who identify a hazard and are unable to correct it, shall ensure the hazard is contained and then report to leadership, immediately.
  • Report Near Misses Immediately.
  • Actively participate in finding solutions to improve workplace safety.
  • All employees are required to participate in safety training. Interact with Supervisors regarding safe work behaviors and develop knowledge of safety.
  • Utilize time provided to participate in safety.
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Be aware of all potential hazards and refrain from behaviors that can result in unsafe actions and working conditions.
  • Practice good housekeeping. Maintain a clean workplace by following the established Five "S" program.
  • Assist in incident investigations as needed.
  • Work safely at all times.
  • Follow all applicable safety and health guidelines.
  • All employees have the power to initiate or request a temporary suspension or shut down of any work activity or operation they believe to be unsafe.

Responsibilities and Authorities

  • Environmental Responsibilities
    • Follow all recycling policies within the plant
    • Report any spills or environmental concerns to Supervisor/Lead immediately
  • Quality Responsibilities
    • Report any quality issues to Supervisors / Lead immediately
  • Quality Authorities
    • Only QA employees have authority to accept / reject production and release finished goods production
