Davis Wright Tremaine LLP (DWT) is seeking applicants for a paid 2L Diversity Law Clerk in the Healthcare Practice Group for the Spring 2026 term of the student's academic year.

DWT's Healthcare Practice includes attorneys working in DWT's Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle offices. 2L Law Clerk candidates should reside within 45 minutes of one of these offices and be available to visit the office and attend in-person meetings at least once every two weeks during the clerkship. You'll work with partners and associates in the Healthcare Practice Group and we'll coordinate around your class schedule. The hourly rate for this position is $40.00.

The Healthcare Practice Group represents leading hospitals and health systems, clinics, medical groups, foundations, clinical laboratories, pharmacies, scientific and medical research organizations and digital health companies on a range of regulatory, governance and transactional matters. We deal with cutting edge issues such as privacy, access to reproductive healthcare, health equity and access, and telemedicine. We help our clients navigate the ever-changing healthcare regulatory maze, partnering with them to meet their business goals and objectives while understanding and addressing the regulatory risks.

Responsibilities:

The law clerk will support the Healthcare Practice Group by:

  • Conducting legal research on federal and state laws and regulations affecting healthcare companies and tax-exempt healthcare organizations.
  • Monitoring, tracking and summarizing, new legal and policy developments for tax-exempt organizations, and preparing short briefs for attorneys and clients.
  • Drafting client alerts on relevant regulatory topics.
  • Collaborating with attorneys on ongoing matters and pro bono projects.

Eligibility:

This opportunity is open to second-year law students who:

  • Are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal profession.
  • Are highly organized, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a genuine interest in exploring Healthcare law.
  • Are currently enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Can commit to 5-15 hours of work per week during the Spring 2026 semester.
  • Reside within 45 minutes of a DWT office in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Portland, or Seattle, and able to commit to an in-person work day at least once every two weeks.

The hourly salary for this position in California and Washington is $40.00/hour. Law Clerks are eligible to accrue sick leave in accordance with DWT's Sick & Safe Leave policy.
