Overview
Position Summary:

The Supply Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the final approval of products through the production cycle and production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. The Supply Planner is responsible for overseeing the master schedule and ensuring comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for manufacturing. Responsibilities include the development of detailed production plans for manufacturing, including creating the production plan in the Material Resources Planning (MRP) system, and issuing documents and updated schedules to the Manufacturing, Filling and Packaging teams. Ensures all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies and applicable regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute production plans based on raw material availability, capacity, safety stock targets and agreed upon master production schedule. Track plan vs actuals and other key metrics as needed.
  • Propose new metrics to drive improved department performance as needed.
  • Identify capacity constraints and lead different teams to identify potential solutions.
  • Load master production schedules into MRP system and process corresponding MRP messages.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain data integrity of work orders, analyze work order variances, understand backorder situation, expedite, and escalate as necessary. Preemptively identify and resolve issues that may impact product availability.
  • Excellent understanding of product life-cycle management and impact to long term planning, purchasing and execution.
  • Analyze and evaluate timing of product changes to efficiently deal with obsolescence and shelf life to minimize scrap.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that include but are not limited to production, engineering, R&D, QA, marketing, finance.
  • Lead cross-site initiatives as needed.
  • Support data integrity in ERP system, by working with IT as needed for issue resolution, development of ad-hoc reports, and data mining as needed by the business.
  • Analyze usage data and stock levels to order parts to satisfy service levels; maintains inventory levels per plan and expedites shortages. Examines production variances, resolves problems where possible, and/or communicates more difficult problems to management.
  • Monitor work order variances, lead-times and inventory turns for assigned products and take the needed steps to meet department goals.
  • Serve as a liaison between manufacturing and shared services in setting priorities and requirements.
  • Strive for improved relationships across staff and departments, including support functions, to ensure on time delivery and meeting customer expectations.
  • Create and make use of tools as needed to help drive decision making and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies and applicable regulations and standards.
  • General understanding of Werfen products and industry.
  • Excellent communication skills including communicating and presenting at executive level, before groups of peers, suppliers, and customers. Strong ability to write business reports and correspondence.
  • Initiating and implementing process/procedure improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Capabilities:
  • Working knowledge of biological and chemical laboratory procedures required
  • Extensive experience with SAP (PP module)
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge required.
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Knowledge of supply chain metrics
  • Power BI experience strongly preferred
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in supply chain planning/purchasing environment required.
  • Understanding and application of planning roles and responsibilities required.
  • Working knowledge of biological and chemical laboratory procedures required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (Supply Planning/Customer Master/MD04/ZPP04). Strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel required.
  • Understanding of good documentation practices required.
  • Knowledge of supply chain metrics required.

Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. Must be able to detect, identify and inspect scientific data. The employee will be required to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per day and/or sit for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to use hands to feel objects, including keyboard, telephone and pipettes or other lab equipment. May need to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Will be required to talk and hear and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May occasionally have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment will vary but is usually moderate. This position is very active and requires varying levels of mobility.

Salary Range:

$70,00- $90,000

Individual compensation is based on the candidates experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, internal equity, budget and or other business and organizational needs.
