You will:



  • Hiring, mentoring, and leading a new team of 4+ software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and rapid execution.
  • Defining and driving the technical strategy for the full lifecycle of issue response, from automated detection and root cause analysis to the deployment of both temporary mitigations and permanent software fixes, as well as preventing future regressions.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance automated issue detection by integrating new data sources and signals, and by minimizing the time from an in-field event to mitigation deployment.
  • Improving the effectiveness of our rapid response systems by guiding the development of more precise and targeted real-time interventions, reducing operational impact.
  • Collaborating with operations teams to streamline processes and tools, accelerating the deployment of solutions and mitigations for issues identified in the field.
  • Establishing and refining processes for managing the lifecycle of temporary solutions, including robust tracking, performance evaluation, and ensuring timely removal or replacement with permanent fixes.
  • Acting as a central technical point of contact, collaborating closely with Site Reliability Engineering, Remote Operations, vehicle software teams, and other engineering groups to ensure effective communication and coordinated responses to field events.


You have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in software engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership and/or people management role.
  • Experience with C++ and/or Python


We prefer:



  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience building and leading SRE or operations-focused engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing, robotics, or safety-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity and deliver solutions to open-ended problems, as is common when responding to novel in-field issues.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
