Posting Summary
Works across NIEER teams to produce and communicate new evidence from existing data sets on child care, preschool programs, and children's experiences including data from parent surveys, child assessments, and classroom/teacher assessments. Performs both quantitative research including administrative data analysis. Supports processes to seek out funding and communicates with potential project sponsors and clients. Authors and co-authors technical reports, policy briefs, and journal articles, supporting dissemination efforts. Completes work independently with broadly defined work objectives and limited review of overall results.
1. Research. Works independently and/or with mentorship on literature reviews, and the design, data collection, and analysis of research including classroom and child assessment, interviews, surveys and administrative data.
2. Proposal Development. Works with faculty and directors to identify potential funders; and leads or supports proposal development.
3. Dissemination. Works independently and/or with mentorship on summarizing and writing analyses and results of different projects into technical reports, policy briefs, and journal articles, supporting dissemination efforts.

Minimum Education and Experience
A doctoral degree by date of hire in a discipline related to Education or Child Development as well as strong quantitative analysis skills required because this position will require knowledge of education/child development policy, practice, and learning and development for analyze and interpret data, and preparing professional reports and academic journal articles.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A doctoral degree by date of hire in a discipline related to Education or Child Development is required because this position will involve conceptual knowledge and research expertise to develop, collect, analyze, and interpret data, to contribute and lead academic publications in education and child development.
* Experience in field research and/or policy analysis to inform policy and practice.
* Excellent communication and writing skills with proven experience writing reports, policy briefs and/or manuscripts.
* Strong statistical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of and experience with research on learning and development of children birth to age 8 and children ages 3 to 5, in particular.
Strong knowledge of and experience with research on policies and practices relating to the education of young children birth to age 8 and those ages 3 to 5, in particular.
Equipment Utilized
Computer literacy including spreadsheets, webinars, and statistical programs
